The Future Belongs to Mad Scientists

By Gaetan Portaels

What if everything you’ve been taught about success is WRONG?

Not just “a little wrong”—completely backwards.

The world doesn’t reward perfection.
It rewards experiments.

Think about it.

The people REWRITING THE RULES aren’t playing it safe.

Look around:

→ Elon Musk? Mad scientist.
→ Sam Altman? Mad scientist.
→ Steve Jobs? Absolutely.

These aren’t just “mad scientists”—they’re RELENTLESS ones.
Always testing, experimenting, and breaking the mold.

They don’t follow a plan.
They create one.

But it’s not just tech billionaires:

→ Greta Thunberg: A teenager who sparked a global climate movement.
→ Banksy: Turning buildings, streets, and auctions into rebellious statements.
→ Jamie Oliver: A “food rebel” blending creativity, activism, and education to tackle big issues.
→ Michaela Coel: Shaking up entertainment with raw, unfiltered storytelling and innovation.
→ Countless more.

They approach life like a giant experiment.

Most of us DON’T.

WHY?

We were trained to think small.

School taught us there’s always a “right” answer.
Follow the rules. Stay in your lane. Memorize the formulas.

In school, 2+2 always = 4

But in the real world? In business?
It’s chaos. It’s messy. It’s unpredictable.

There is no fixed formula.
No universal playbook.

If there were, the whole system would collapse in a week.

Success is EARNED, not “learned”.

How? By whom?
By those who TRY, fail, adapt, and TRY AGAIN.

👉 WANT TO GROW?

Start experimenting—relentlessly.

Want more views?
→ Try posting 10 times a day.
→ Try polished, try raw, try ugly.
→ Look at the results. Adjust. REPEAT.

Want better ideas?
→ Run 12 tests, not one.
→ Try different strategies, tools, approaches.

Want a better life?
→ Change your city, your diet, your schedule.
→ Expand your network.

For how long?
Until something clicks.

Then what? Test, refine, test again.

Yes, it’s hard.
Yes, it’s uncomfortable.

But the alternative is far WORSE:
Chasing black-and-white answers in a world full of color and chaos.

Most people don’t fail because they try too much.
They fail because they stop trying too soon.

This isn’t about being reckless.
It’s about being curious.

BUT… There’s a BALANCE:

Over-experimenting can paralyze if you never STOP TO IMPLEMENT what works.

👉 Challenge: Double your experiments next month.

→ If you ran 5 this month, run 10.
→ If you tried one new thing, try two.

All of life is one giant experiment.

So, experiment with everything:
Your strategies. Your mindset. Your assumptions.
And yes, even the rules you’ve been told are unbreakable.

The world rewards curiosity, agility, and a willingness to fail fast.

STOP thinking like a perfectionist.
START thinking like a mad scientist.

Because the only constant in this world? Change.

The more you experiment, the faster you learn.
The faster you learn, the closer you get to success.

Now go experiment 😄!

Best,
