Inspiration is a moment, not a future.
Inspiration is a moment, not a future.
It starts dying the moment it appears.
Blink, and it’s gone.
Sounds nice, right?
Poetic and all.
But pretty words DON’T move your life.
The real question is:
Then what?
👉 Act on it. Immediately.
When you’re INSPIRED to do something…
DO that thing.
Don’t wait.
Don’t plan.
Don’t schedule.
Inspired to write a post?
Write now.
Want to speak words unsaid?*
Say them now.
See a problem?
Tackle it right then.
Curious about something?
Dive in before it dies.
→ That’s how I’ve CONDITIONED myself to live.
The moment curiosity hits, I move.
I buy the book.
I send the message.
I get on Google (or ChatGPT).
I search. I ask. I build.
I don’t wait. I do.
That’s when REAL learning happens.
That’s when REAL change happens.
In the moment.
Not “when you have time.”
Think I’m being hyperbolic?
Stop scrolling.
Think it over.
AUDIT your life:
Your biggest wins?
Your proudest moments?
The moves you almost didn’t make—
but now can’t imagine not having made?
Did those happen because you…
→ “Shecheduled the time”?
→ “Set an hour aside”?
→ “Blocked a day in your calendar”?
I bet they didn’t.
Why not?
Because when that time finally comes…
Your mood has shifted.
Your energy is gone.
You’re often already halfway out the door.
You just want SOMETHING ELSE.
But…
The things worth living for,
they almost never start on a schedule.
They start in a spark.
So?
Invite SPONTANEITY in your life.
Act in the moment, before the feeling dies.
You learn best when you WANT to.
NOT when you’re forced to.
Think back:
How much do you actually remember from school?
All those forced on someone else’s schedule and terms?
Not much, right?
Because the stuff that sticks is the stuff you hunted for yourself.
BUILD THAT FREEDOM.
Having the power to act the moment you FEEL IT is rare.
But I believe it might just be EVERYTHING.
Most people never even get a taste it.
But if you optimize for it?
That’s a recipe for happiness.
That’s a shortcut to efficiency.
Why?
Because it’s a virtuous circle:
The happier you are → the easier it’s to keep going.
The more you keep going → the happier you get.
That’s how momentum builds.
That’s how you outpace everyone else.
Not because of the “grind, grind, grind.”
But by following the spark, again and again.
Most people wait.
→ Until they “have time.”
→ Until the feeling’s gone.
→ Until it’s already too late.
DON’T be most people.
Inspiration is born burning, already dying.
When it hits, DO the thing.
Before it dies.
To your success,
Gaetan Portaels
